Competition is a major and fun part of the barbershop world that helps keep us focused on raising the bar of performing excellence. We come together in a spirit of lighthearted contest to see who's really got top form. We root for each other, cheer each other on, and once the medals have been handed out, we sing and party well into the night!
Every year in March or April, Capital Accord makes the trip to Ocean City, MD to compete in our regional contest. Dozens of choruses and quartets come together to sing, compete, and cheer for all our friends. If you're anywhere near Ocean City in the spring, come be a part of the fun!
In the fall, the quartet and chorus regional champions -- and a few "wildcards" -- gather together at the International Convention for the second round of competition. They're joined by their friends and families, and tons of other Sweet Adelines who want to hear the best in the world perform. In 2010, the International Convention will be held in Seattle, WA, from October 19-23. If you can't make it to Seattle, you can view the complete contest on a live webcast on the Sweet Adelines International website. This is the ultimate women's barbershop competition -- you won't want to miss it!
